Scenic Eclipse Suite Review
We recently had the opportunity to experience the luxurious superyacht, Scenic Eclipse, on a 10-day cruise around Japan. This 6-star ultra-luxury cruise was, to put it simply, a once in a lifetime opportunity. Only carrying up to 228 passengers (200 in the polar regions), and offering nothing but luxury, our experience was nothing short of exceptional.
Scenic Eclipse Check In Experience
We boarded Scenic Eclipse in the port of Osaka in Japan, after first flying into Tokyo, Haneda Airport in Business Class with Qantas. We received our boarding information almost two weeks prior, meaning we had plenty of time to arrange any transport necessary. When we arrived, staff were ready to help us with our luggage. Taking them off our hands, tagging them and getting them sent straight to our room. After passing passport control, we made our way to the entrance of Scenic Eclipse and were greeted by the Cruise Director and all staff, then provided a cold towel and a glass of champagne.
We then were introduced to our personal butler, Simba. He was lovely and accommodating and led us through the main lounge area where we waited to check in. Rather than lining up to get our key card, we were told to sit and relax on the large couches and then called up when our key card was ready. After receiving our key card, we then had a quick safety briefing on exits and also life jackets and medical kits, before being shown to our suite.Â
Scenic Eclipse Deluxe Verandah SuiteÂ
We were in the Deluxe Verandah Suite, which was incredibly luxurious and comfortable. All rooms onboard have a king size bed, a balcony, separate living space with a couch and an ensuite bathroom. When arriving at our suite, we were given a tour by Simba. We had dimming options on the lights, a Dyson hair dryer, a huge TV and Egyptian cotton sheets with a pillow topper on the bed. He also asked for our drinks preference as any type of wine, spirit, tea or soft drink is provided to your liking.
We selected a variety of champagne and red wine, along with some green tea, plus a coffee machine was also available in the room. Each suite is also serviced twice a day, once in the morning and then again during the evening where your room is prepared for sleep. There was a switch located near the room entrance which you could switch on to notify the staff you’re heading out. They then send someone down almost immediately to clean your room while you’re gone.Â
The room was filled with all information needed on the trip, with our daily activity tickets already printed and ready for us. A menu was provided for each restaurant along with opening hours, while a ‘dine in’ card was in the top drawer if we wished to have breakfast or any other meal in our suite one day.
The first thing we did was head down and book in some restaurants, as they do book up quite quick and some of the smaller restaurants have limited seating. To read our full restaurant review, click here. We booked in Lumier’s, Day Night Market and also the Sushi restaurant. This way we had a few bookings secured for our trip, especially for the smaller restaurants that fill up. Day Night Market’s only have room for 8 guests in one sitting, with two sittings done each night. After doing this, we returned to our suite to find it fully stocked with our preferred drinks, and unpacked our luggage (our suitcases were later stored under the bed by Simba so they were out of the way the entire trip).
We were also lucky enough to get a tour of the Panorama and Grand Panorama Suites. Located at the front of the yacht, overlooking the bow on the upper decks 6 and 8, with spacious curved terraces, these grand suites surpass expectations. Although it was raining when we got the tour, meaning we didn’t head outside, the spaciousness and next level luxury was very apparent.Â
These grand suites include a host of special features and services. There is a separate lounge area to relax, a dining area, cinema surround HDTV, walk-in robe, vitality mist shower with colour light therapy, full bath, and Dyson hairdryer. You’ll also find a complimentary laundry service, guaranteed dining reservations and priority choice of shore excursions on the list.
Next up, we review the restaurants onboard Scenic Eclipse as well as the bar and lounges onboard Scenic Eclipse.Â
