Scenic Jasper Review
Scenic Jasper is Scenic’s 11th ship, named the “Space Ship” because of the higher than average amount of space dedicated to public areas. Although the Scenic Jasper carries fewer guests at 169 passenger capacity, compared to the typical river vessel which have up to 200, the public areas like the lounge and atrium are larger as a result.
Launched in 2015, you will experience 138 shore excursions around Europe on the Scenic Jasper, with departure ports available from Amsterdam, Prague, Budapest, Basel, Paris and Passau.
This ship comes with a range of features, ones which are in an all-inclusive pricing policy. From excursions, tipping, all drinks including wines and Champagne, are covered by the cost of your cruise. The only extras that you will pay are for spa services and laundry, while this is free for top category passengers.
As if it could get any better, all passengers have personal butlers, who perform ever more services as you go up in cabin categories. All 85 cabins come with a stocked minibar that is replenished daily, while high-tech fixtures and fittings are seen throughout the room. It’s a gadget lover’s dream!
The daily programme on the Scenic Jasper includes a range of activities. These are all either guided or self-led, with the option of a held-held GPS tailormade device that contains a variety of suggested walking tours for each port and background information on points of interest. By having these devices this allows passengers to personalise their free time based on what they are interested in and also what pace they wish to move at. In addition to the usual city tours, other activities feature concerts, bike rides and the “Scenic Sundowner”. This is where passengers enjoy a cocktail at the end of each day to toast to picturesque locations.
There are six dining options onboard, a high number for a river cruise ship. These range from fine dining to extensive buffets and an excellent light lunch option.
The Scenic Jasper breaks the traditional river cruising experience by offering a fresh and updated ship and itinerary along with an all-inclusive cruise. This cruise would be good for those looking for an upmarket experience, as well as younger cruises and first-time passengers.
