Introduction to Scenic Eclipse II

We recently had the opportunity to experience the highly anticipated Scenic Eclipse II for a ship inspection. This ultimate 6-star ultra-luxury cruise is packed with amenities, experiences and has a capacity for 228 guests with a one to one guest and staff ratio. We were very excited to spend 24 hours on board after sailing onboard the original Scenic Eclipse in 2023.

Accommodation and Suites

Scenic Eclipse is in a class of its own in ultra-luxury ocean cruising with 114 elegant suites across five decks. Each suite type is designed as your own indulgent haven, featuring luxury amenities, floor to ceiling sliding doors, and an outdoor area. From the moment we stepped on board our assigned butler helped us through check in before showing us to our suite and all the main features and gadgets.

Choosing the Perfect Suite for Your Voyage

We stayed in one of the Verandah Suite which was spacious and well fitted out, offering a large private verandah for sitting outside. The plush king-size bed was large and comfortable and the lounge with TV was conveniently located, although if we wanted to watch the TV from bed through it wouldn’t have been as well positioned.

Compared to other ships the bathroom was a generous size and we really enjoyed the amenities included. These included a full mini-bar restocked daily, still and sparkling water in-suite and an extensive range of specialty teas and coffees. A highlight was finding in-suite binoculars!

We inspection the Grand Deluxe Verandah Scenic Suite and found it felt very similar to the one we stayed in. It did however come with additional space in the room and a larger verandah. It also featured a walk-in wardrobe, perfect for those longer stays.

An inspection of the Panorama and Grand Panorama Suites showed opulence, grandeur and style on a whole new level. And these aren’t even the top of the range Suites! Located at the front of Scenic Eclipse, overlooking the bow on the upper decks, with spacious curved terraces, these grand suites oozed style. The bedroom sits separate to the large living space (with a good sized table and large lounge), while the bathroom was over the top luxury, even including your own infra-red sauna chairs and a massive terrace with a spa.

As they are premier suites, they boast a number of additional features, services and world-class innovations. You can even have an intimate dining experience in your suite delivered by your personal butler! When staying in one of these suites guests also receive one hour complimentary spa treatment per suite, priority dining in specialty restaurants and priority choice of shore excursions and VIP embarkation and disembarkation too.

Dining and Culinary Experiences

Just like the original Scenic Eclipse the Scenic Eclipse II has all-inclusive dining, and it is best described as a sensory delight! The impressive selection of cuisines with up to 10 dining experiences and eight bars and lounges we were spoiled for choice.

There was a choice of up to 10 dining experiences, ranging from casual to fine dining, creating a very broad range of cuisine offerings. We visited a number of restaurants which all looked 5 star in appearance and food offerings. We wished we could have had time to sample them all!

Restaurants and Dining Venues

We chose to have dinner at the Yacht Club. This had a special buffet menu with multiple stations, everything from cheese/meats, sashimi, antipasto, breads, desserts, including a station with 8 chefs hand serving various meats and vegetables.

These included lobster tail, salmon, pork belly, lamb, seafood paella, roast vegetables, and more. Even though it was a buffet style dinner, it certainly didn’t feel that way. The restaurant was set beautifully, while the view was nothing short of incredible. The service was impeccable and the staff continuously topped up our drinks. Nothing was too much trouble for the the staff!

For breakfast, we briefly stopped in at the Azure Cafe for fresh fruit, yoghurt and a croissant. These were all well presented and delicious in taste. There was a large selection of other foods we could, ranging from hot and cold options, but we decided to keep our meal light after indulging the night before.

Whatever restaurant or bar we visited during our Scenic Eclipse II stay, all beverages were all-inclusive. Staff were happy to accommodate all requests from champagne, whiskey, cocktails, coffee, beer, wine and spirits – you name it.

Onboard Activities and Entertainment

There are a good amount of casual spaces onboard Scenic Eclipse II, allowing it easy to find a space to relax, chat with other passengers, or simply curl up and read a book.

The expansive Senses Spa, dedicated gym, Pilates and yoga studio are all well designed have a variety of offerings for your to enjoy in on your journey.

The onboard Senses Spa has a range of traditional spa treatments including massages and facials. The highlight for us was the alternative therapies, which included infrared sauna, steam rooms, Salt Therapy, and reflexology.

Fitness Facilities and Programs

Keeping up your fitness while on board is no problem – the POWER: Gym, is a fully equipped, state-of-the-art gym ready for your cardio and strength workouts. The one of a kind PURE: Yoga and Pilates Studio is also available for everything from holistic therapy sessions, aerial yoga and meditation. We loved the option to train with one of the on board personal trainers and expert instructors.

Being able to explore remote locations by air, by ship and underwater shows Scenic Eclipse II is just a step ahead of competitors. Their all-inclusive discovery offerings include a fleet of Zodiacs, tandem kayaks, e-bikes, snorkel gear and snowshoes to take you beyond exploration.

Service and Crew Experience

Whenever we walked around the ship, we were always greeted with a friendly hello and smile. Staff would go above and beyond with our requests and were also very happy to answer questions with very helpful and detailed responses. The specialist discovery team of experts and local guides were great at providing insights of the environment throughout the journey.

Scenic Eclipse II Captain’s Chair

We really enjoyed being able to sit in the captain’s chair and hear all about the control room from the crew. It is an extremely advanced ship and has taken innovation to the next level for expedition cruising. The vessel has an open door policy so if the door is open, you can knock and head in and say hi to the captain and crew. How good is that!
