Explora Journeys Explora II Sets Sail

Just weeks after its first anniversary, Explora Journeys Explora I’s sister ship, Explora II, has set sail! It’s maiden voyage will begin in Civitavecchia in Italy, travelling to Sicily, Malta and Spain, before sailing to the Caribbean for Winter.

The new luxury cruise ship has 461 oceanfront suites, penthouses, and residences, along with six different restaurants, 12 bars and lounges, four swimming pools, and a range of wellness venues. Just like Explora I, the new Explora Journeys ship embodies elegant Swiss precision and modern European craftsmanship to evoke an “Ocean State of Mind” and reflect Explora Journeys’ approach to luxury.

Explora II Layout and Offerings

The layout of Explora II is very similar to Explora I, but with some added enhancements to add more comfort and space. The Lounge, casino, and Fil Rouge restaurant have refreshed colours and materials while maintaining their original layouts. The Explora Lounge, Crema Café, and Atoll Pool have all been enhanced with new designs and furniture to create more space for guests.

Explora II Sakura Restaurant

The Ocean Wellness Spa has a refined new concept with updated decor and materials throughout, while the Australian spa brand, Subtle Energies has been added. We will see a redesign of The Anthology restaurant, to offer exceptional Italian fine dining, while Explora II will also feature the first at sea Buccellati jewellery boutique to complement the luxurious onboard shopping experience.

Explora Journeys in the Caribbean

Guests will now have the opportunity to discover the Caribbean with Explora Journeys, with meticulously crafted experiences that blend must-see destinations with off-the-beaten-path ports. While onboard, guests can choose from a range of activities and excursions as diverse as the culture and landscape, from snorkelling with a marine biologist in Curaçao to exploring the ancient Mayan city of Uxmal.

• Gustavia in St. Barts
• Oranjestad in Aruba
• St. John’s in Antigua
• Belize City
• Bequia in the Grenadines
• Cozumel and Progresso in Mexico

Explora Journeys will first set sail in the Caribbean with the Explora II in November 2024, before Explora I joins in December 2024. After the Winter season, both ships will move back to sailing in the Mediterranean for Summer.

Coming soon – Explora III and Explora IV

Explora Journeys also celebrated the expansion of its luxury fleet, with the major stages for the next two ships commemorated this week. Coins were placed inside the Explora III as a sign of blessing during construction and good fortune, while the first piece of steel was cut for Explora IV. Explora III is scheduled for completion in 2026 and will be followed by Explore IV and V in 2027 and finally Explora VI in 2028.
